C Locus DilutionsThe basics:C - full color c^ch - chinchilla dilution c^h - colorpoints, himalayan, siamese dilutions c^e - extreme dilution c - albino HomozygotesCC - full color c^ch/c^ch - with Ay this produces creams, with agouti (A) this produces what is something called "Silver Agouti" in the European standards, but is generally called Chinchilla Agouti or Chinchilla in the US. With a^t, chinchillation produces foxes. With basic non-agouti black it can produce a slightly off-black or a very obvious chinchillation - I had a cch/cch black fox and the base of the hair was practically white with black tips, but this darkened as she aged so it was less obvious. c^h/c^h - Siamese on most backgrounds. Like most c-locus modifications, it can dilute Ay to white or almost white and the eye-color would look pink or ruby (without using the pink-eyed or ruby-eyed genes). c^e/c^e - Varies in shade from beige to coffee. Again, on Ay it can look dark-eyed white. c/c - Albino. Covers all other colors. Produces pink-eyed white phenotype that is associated with many genetic mysteries, since it covers other genes. HeterozygotesC/c - Full color, but may be slightly lighter than a CC mouse C/c^ch - Full color, but may be slightly lighter than a CC mouse C/c^h - Technically will be full color, but slight points may be visible C/c^e - Full color, but may be slightly lighter than a CC mouse c^ch/c^e - Dilutes agouti colors by changing the black in the ticking to a light brown and yellow to white or near-white. Will dilute a black tan to mock chocolate fox. Like most c-locus modification combinations will produce a white or near-white mouse with Ay. c^ch/ch - Creates the Burmese mouse; on a genetically black background this mouse will look like a chocolatey-brown pointed mouse. Can be combined with blue for a blue Burmese. Sometimes called Siamese sable. c^ch/c - Creates a light mock chocolate on a black background. c^h/c - Himalayan mouse. Bright white mouse with dark points and pink or red eyes. c^h/c^e - Color point beige. c^e/c - Cream/Ivory/Bone depending on the standard and the exact shade - which can be selectively bred for. Again, creates a black-eyed white with an Ay background. Continue to Coat Types |
